Q: How do I become a member? Ceramics memberships are $145 per month ($135 for students and seniors, age 62 and over). Memberships include a shelf space, glazes and firings (up to 4 cu. ft per month). Members may use the studio from 6am until midnight. Members must have prior experience working with clay. We usually have a waiting list of 4-6 months, so we recommend that you take a class or two to get familiar with the studio, glazes and procedures. Call or come in and put your name on our member waiting list. Fused Glass memberships are $110 per month ($105 for students and seniors, age 62 and over). Check out our current list of rates HERE
Q: What type of classes do you offer? We offer classes in ceramics, including wheel classes and hand building classes. We offer beginning through advanced classes. Classes are held quarterly. Most classes are 10 weeks, 2 hours/week or 8 weeks, 2.5 hours/week. We have weekday, weekend, daytime and evening classes. We also have classes for kids, ages 4-7, 7-12 and teens, 13-17. Classes change each quarter, depending on our instructors and studio space, so check out our class schedules on the Class Schedule tab.
Q: During my class session, can I access the studio outside of the class? Yes! Students are encouraged to come to the studio to practice their skills. If your class is 2 hours/week, you may come in for up to 6 additional hours per week, if your class is 2.5 hours/week, additional studio time is 7.5 hours/week and if your class is 3 hours/week, additional studio time is 9 hours/week.
Q. If I am taking a Beginning Wheel class do I need my own clay and tools? Beginning students generally do not need to bring anything to the first class. Your instructor will let you know what kind of clay to buy and what tools you will need to purchase.
Q. How do I purchase a gift certificate? How can I redeem it? We have several types of gift certificates: If you purchase a gift certificate, it may be used for classes or to purchase ceramic and fused glass items that are sold here. You may also purchase our recycled clay. If you received a gift certificate that was donated by Fire Arts, it is valid only for the specific purpose shown on the certificate. If you would like to use your gift certificate as part or all of your payment for a class, enter the gift certificate number online when you register for a class. When you get to the cart and checkout page, you will be asked to enter a coupon code. Enter your gift certificate number at this time. If you have questions, give us a call.
Q. Can I fire pieces at Fire Arts that I make elsewhere, even if I'm not taking classes? Yes! We offer firing services to the local community. You may bring your work to be bisque fired (we bisque at Cone 06) and/or glaze fired (we glaze fire at Cone 10 gas reduction and Cone 6 electric. You must make sure that your clay body is Cone 10 or Cone 6 and let the studio technicians know which clay body you are using. Glaze firings include the use of our studio glazes. Each firing is $20 per cubic foot. It's best to call before you bring in your work to make sure that one of our studio techs will be available to check you in and price your work.
