Fire Arts has expanded into mid-range Cone 5/6 ceramics. This Spring term features new classes to introduce the methods, clays, glazes and surface decoration techniques using Cone 5/6 clay.
Cone 5/6 is known as mid-range. It is very durable stoneware and porcelain. The benefits of mid-range include firing in our electric kilns in an oxidation atmosphere resulting in brighter underglaze and stain colors, a more extensive color palette of underglazes and stains, whiter porcelain surfaces and more consistency in glaze results. If you've wanted to have your own kiln, then perhaps mid-range is for you. Check out our classes for the Spring term. Registration begins Monday February 21, online and in person at the studio.
