CLASSES IN CERAMICS

Handbuilding 1 & 2 (10-week class) $175

Join Honorée in this exploration of various classic hand-building techniques—including pinch, coil, slab, and extruded forms. This class is appropriate for both beginning and experienced students.

Playing with Clay for Grown-Ups (5-week class) $65

Want to play with something squishy? This class covers basic hand-building techniques—including slump molding, carving, and slab construction. Projects include making and glazing a frog house, planter, and pressed-lace bowl. The final class features a traditional raku firing. This class is a fun, stress-relieving introduction to ceramic art.

Wheel Throwing 1 & 2 (10-week class) $175

This class is a complete introduction to basic wheel-throwing and glazing techniques, with an emphasis on developing your own personal style.

Wheel Throwing 1 & 2 (10-week class) $175

Learn the basics or perfect your wheel-throwing technique. With more than 30 years’ experience, Bob is an inspiration to students of all levels. This class is ideal for both new and continuing students.

Wheel: Functional Forms & More (10-week class) $175

While Bob's primary focus in this class will be on functional forms, the first three weeks will cover large-section throwing. The final three weeks will highlight specific techniques used in altering thrown forms. This class is appropriate for intermediate, advanced, and home studio throwers.

Wheel: Kick It Up! (5-week class) $90

Feeling stuck? Denise will help you kick it up a notch and have you throwing bigger and better. This intermediate class also covers glazing techniques as well as kiln basics, loading, and firing.

Raku Firing (ongoing, weekly) $6–$25

Fridays glazing at noon; firing 1–3pm


See your pottery glow with the ancient technique of raku firing. Bring your own bisqueware or select an unglazed piece from Fire Arts. We have a variety of pots and glazes. Firing fee: $6 per piece, or $25 for an entire kiln load.

Creating Tumblers & Mugs (ongoing, weekly) Free

Join Fire Arts members for an evening creating whimsical ceramic mugs for our fundraising events. All ages are welcome. Attend 3 workshops and receive a final product free!

Glass Fusing: Basic Plate Making I (4-week class) $120

Create functional pieces while developing basic skill, learning to use glass-cutting and grinding tools, and applying fundamental principles of design. Suitable for both beginning and continuing students. Materials fee: $60.

Glass Fusing: Plate Making II (4-week class) $120

This class is a continuation of Plate-Making I. Basic glass-cutting skills required. Materials fee: $60.

Glass Fusing: Jewelry Making (4-week class) $120

Create your own jewelry by fashioning and combining components made of fusible, dichroic, and window glass. This class is suitable for beginners. Materials fee: $60.

Glass Fusing: Recycled Glass (4-week class) $120

Explore a variety of recycled materials, you'll create both glass art and functional ware. Suitable for both beginning and continuing students. Materials fee: $25.

Explore layered imagery to create thicker (up to 1") pieces. This class is appropriate for beginning through advanced students. Materials fee: $60.

Find out what glass fusing and the Fire Arts Center are all about. Learn, or review, the basics and create a 6" x 6" project in this one-day workshop. This class is designed for beginning and returning students. Materials are included with this class.
